A lioness lifts her head and looks towards the camera for a brief second. The photograph feels intimate, although the vehicle remains at a respectful distance. Images like this rarely come from rushing. They come from patience, light and understanding behaviour.
Light matters more than the camera
Early mornings and late afternoons add depth to fur, dust and landscape. A telephoto lens helps, but a phone can create beautiful environmental images too. The key is not to experience every encounter only through a screen.
Wildlife decides the distance
Good guides position a vehicle thoughtfully and never block an animal’s path. Wildlife should not be called, chased or pressured for a photograph. Patience usually creates the most natural and moving scenes.
Tell a story, not just a hundred files
Photograph tracks, landscapes, hands, campfire light and small details as well. Together they will say far more about your journey than an endless sequence of similar close-ups.
